There are different types of windows and doors that you can upgrade with insect screens. The biggest difference is whether the window open inwards (European type) or outwards (Scandinavian type). Roller insect net is a universal solution for all types of windows (can be installed in the opposite direction of window opening). Insect screens in the window frame are suitable for windows that open inwards (mounted on the outer window frame). Insect screen doors are the best solution for swing doors (which are installed and open in the opposite direction to the door opening).
To our estimation, average time of roller insect sreen installation is 15-20 minutes. Insect net in frame you can mount in 1-5 minutes. Swing insect screen door - 15-20 minutes. These times are approximate and may vary depending on your skills.
To install the roller screen or screen door, you need an electric or manual screwdriver and a 2.5 mm drill bit. For mounting the insect screen in the frame, you only need a manual screwdriver to screw 4 hooks into the frame after the product has been unpacked.
Maintenance and cleaning
Maintenance and cleaning
Compared to adhesive insect nets, Ripo insect screens are made from frames of a durable aluminum construction, which are ergonomic, easy to use and last for many years, if not exposed to external physical damage. Insect screens itself cannot withstand hard physical pressure because they are made of a thin fabric. The most common cases when nets are damaged are when people or their pets do not recognize the insect screen. We recommend that you think about where you want to install insect net. You can put a special sticker on the netting to draw attention to it. For insect screen doors in houses with pets, we recommend choosing a special animal protection in the lower part of the door. It is made of extra durable material so that the pet can better see the screen and the screen can better resist the pet's claws. However, even the animal shelter cannot withstand the high pressure of big pets and can become detached or pushed out of the frame.
In our customers' experience, there is no particular need to remove insect screens during the winter, except if they are directly exposed to extreme wind, snow or ice, which can cause them to become less flexible.
Over time, dust and other dirt can accumulate on the insect net, so it needs to be cleaned regularly. We recommend cleaning insect nets at least once every six months if you live in a city, suburb or in an environment with relatively clean air. In rural areas with exposure to weed control chemicals or fertilizers or other dusty areas – at least once every three months.
Insect nets are discreet and elegant, but if they get dirty it can become visible. The best thing you can do is regularly clean insect nets of dust with a vacuum cleaner.
Since the insect net is made of thin fabric, there is a risk of accidental damage. The quickest solution is to buy a mesh with a repair kit and replace it yourself or ask a local handyman to help you.
